Emily Pratt (Neuromuscular Activation's Specialist/ Sports Massage Therapist)

I offer a unique approach to sports massage that goes beyond traditional hands-on treatment. Working alongside the physiotherapists in the practice, I incorporate neuromuscular activation techniques into my sessions to prepare the body before massage begins. By activating and engaging key muscles first, we can address underlying imbalances, improve muscle function, and encourage the nervous system to respond more effectively. Once these muscles are properly switched on and released, the massage itself becomes far more targeted, effective, and long-lasting.

My approach was inspired in 2020 when I attended an Unlocking Parkinson’s study and witnessed the incredible impact of neuromuscular activation on movement and function. That experience shaped the way I work today — combining these techniques with the proven benefits of sports massage to create treatments that truly make a difference.

This integrated method allows me to treat a wide range of conditions, from lower back pain and sports injuries to plantar fasciitis, tennis and golfer’s elbow, and Parkinson’s disease.

Outside of work, I’ve ridden horses all my life and treat many riders, and I stay active through various sports — including taking up triathlons in recent years. Staying active helps me understand the physical challenges my patients face, so I can continually refine my treatments to support better movement, recovery, and performance.

Kate Hodges MCSP

Kate graduated from the University of Southampton (one of the leading teaching hospitals in the UK) in 2009 with a MSc degree (hons) in Physiotherapy. She worked in the NHS in a variety of settings before leaving to specialise in MSK (muskeloskeletal) rehabilitation inn private practice.

Kate has spent several years in the United States, where she gained her doctorate in Physical Therapy. She became highly skilled in managing a wide variety of conditions including sports injuries, spinal pain, chronic pain and post orthopaedic rehab.

Kate strongly believes that with a good understanding of the nervous system coupled with hands on treatment, especially using the incredible neuromuscular activations whatever the pain a patient comes in with, she can help them reach their individual goals.
